greennoiserecords.com (US) Dec 2025 Texas does it again, the band charging at the songs with a mix of fuzz and clarity, careless focus, intention and effortless, welcoming and exorcising, blowing the sawdust from the work bench, tension that pulls you in and chucks you out, the songs with something that almost sounds like restraint to increase the tension, sounds like trying to kick a scorpion loose from your pant leg, filthy pop songs chucked into a 55 gallon drum and shaken around in the soiled oil at the bottom, garage punk sopping up puddles from the Dirtnap catalog and the 1990s, the rhythm section sinking their claws into it, the drumming nailing the songs to your skull, a linked-armed tightness that maybe can only come from a trio, one thing on their mind, but each clearly with a mind of their own, songs likely coming from the end of relationships with titles like Useless, Dead To Me, Don't Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, You Let me Down, maybe influences from across the southern half of the United States, people/places like Personality Cult/North Carolina, Reatard/Tennessee, Marked Men/Texas, Destruction Unit/Arizona, Gun Club/ Los Angeles. Check it out. It's great. (mw)

addtowantlist.com NOV 2025 The debut mini-album from Austin trio Death Party, Haunted, lands right in time for the Halloween season — a band name and album title made for each other. The cover art hints at something darker, maybe even metal, but don’t be fooled. This is an Alien Snatch! Records release, which means Death Party sound less like they crawled from a crypt and more like they just stumbled out of a garage after a loud, glorious mess of a rehearsal. Haunted packs eight rockin’, punkin’ garage-pop nuggets onto a 10". The opener, Make You Mine, starts things off brightly, but much of the record leans into darker moods — fitting for a band called Death Party, though still loaded with hooks. Think somewhere between Mind Spiders and OBN III’s: grimy, catchy, and buzzing with nervous energy. It’s the kind of record that makes you wish every haunting sounded this fun. (Niek)

GERMAN

Cool. (A)
