JEWWS - I Need Your Lovin´(But I Don´t Need You)7"

german

WAYBACK MACHINE (USA) DEC 2002 Houston's finest band since Sugar Shack hits you right over your big dumb head (YEAH, YOU!) with this hot and heavy seven incher from the fine folks at Alien Snatch in Germany. Trashy, frantic, raunchy, snotty... you know the adjectives. You've heard 'em all before, but really... I'm SERIOUS this time! Everything you dig about garage punk rock'n'roll is contained in these grooves. Three songs, all killer, no filler. Alien Snatch's slogan is "Vinyl records worth quitting your day job for," and I gotta say that after hearing this baby, I'm tempted! More!(kopper)

LONG GONE LOSER (OZ) OCT 2002 Lo-fi garage rockers from Texas kickin' up 3 raw butt kickin' numbers that bring to mind bands like Guitar Wolf, The Mummies, The Rip Offs, (early) New Bomb Turks, etc. and that's fine by me. There's a true 50's sound stuffed somewhere in between the fuzz on this disc as well. Limited to 500 copies only and you'd wanna be quick cos it seems Alien Snatch are releasing quality product after quality product. You want this.(damo)

SMASHIN TRANSISTORS (USA) JULY 2002 This Texas band seems to get compared the GORIES a lot. They both play hopped-up 60's R&B influenced Rock-n-roll but I think the main reason why though is because there's a black guy and a chick in the band. Really, the similarities stop there. Like the Gories though, the Jewws cut their own path taking big doses of a good record collection and mashing it back out their own way. This is the follow up the "Heartbreaker" 10in., which is truly one of great garage-pop-trash treasures of the past few years, and they sped-up the pace and thrown a bunch more dirt on the sound for this one. This record isn't as instantly infectious as that one but I imagine someday soon this will be playing while I'm driving and checking my rearview I'll see flashing lights. I'll look down at the speed-o-meter and it'll say 120 mph. Ya realize I got a cop motor in that Grand Marquis (DM)

RAZORCAKE #8 (USA) MAY 2002 Sweet, snotty, no-nonsense garage rock that huffs fabric softener (for that instant, wicked high which leaves blisters on your nostrils but smells nice) that spazzes from the gate like a mis-medicated retard hucked off the short bus and dragged along by his leash. The music strips down to the bare essentials like a meth'd hooker in an ass-floss thong, kicks for the balls on the first note with combat boots and Converse All Stars (care of Omari and Matt), and doesn't stop until a spiked heel (care of Rebecca) grinds it all to a halt shortly after. For fans of the KILL_A_WATTS, MOTARDS, and DIRTYS. Think Chuck Berry and radioactivity. Me like. Me like.(Todd)

SHREDDING PAPER #13 (USA) Summer 2002 Fuzzed-out, distorted-voxed hyper-charged garage punk that´s very cool indeed. next time these folks saunter through town I´ll know where I´ll be. Until then, this won´t be too far from the ol´turntable and it shouldn´t be far from your either (david)

NO BRAINS ZINE (NETHERLANDS) MAY 2002 Wow wow wow, unbelievable this is definitely the biggest surprise in last few months. This is probably one of the greatest garage trash bands. If you like MUMMIES and similar stuff you mustn't miss this pearl. If you don't have it already, beneath is email and address - so go and order your copy - it's only 500 pressed!! Jewws are trio: Omari, Rebecca and Matt. "I Need Your Lovin" is short and furious trashy garage punk with great vocal, great guitar, great rhythm - everything great - song you should play 10 times a day - it's a killer and a hit on my turntable. B side is not much different - Jewws are kickin' and rollin', "We Come Out At Night" has great riff and "Twist Party" is so fast - I don't know how they play this. Are you guys on speed? This is definitely sooooooooo GREAT!!!!!!!! And Alien Snatch! Records, keep releasing great stuff!!!!.(va)

UP YOURS! (BELGIUM) MAY 2002 Yet another brilliantly sparkling jewel of punkrock'n'roll hails from Houston, Texas and goes by the name of THE JEWWS. After a sadly 'gone-before-noticed' 10" this band did catch the attention of at least some caring people. With the 'I Need Your Lovin', (but I Don't Need You)', a 3 track 7" put out by ALIEN SNATCH! you get a treatment of aural excitement, which might drive you as wild as the 3 folk fixing this stuff together. It's trashy, it's sloppy, but its surely is garage rawkin' roll shoved up in a punk-out style that'll get you listeners into a crazy, shakin' stompin' mood. Think of a weird mixture of some of those japanese punkrawk unit raised on a diet and over exposure to SUPERCHARGER and TEENGENERATE and you'll get the picture. What the hell these cuts got even an extra funfactor to top it off, what can you ask moe ? It's smashin', bashin', screamin', yellin' and shoutin' on a rumpus of fuzzy, trash guitars and crazed out drumrattles. Check this out and while your at it get that Remedial records 10" as well or even better wait for their fulllength to come out soon on Demolition Derby. In other words : BUY EVERTHING YOU CAN GET BY THE JEWWS.(bo)

BLANK GENERATION (USA) APRIL 2002 I’ve heard good things about these guys before, but never really got around to checking them out. My mistake… It’s simply astounding that two thirds of this band does double duty in the ultra-wimpy (but still good) Junior Varsity. The JEWWS’ hyper charged, cool as fuck garage assault knocked me on my ass like a kick to the chest from Donnie Yen and left me begging for more. Omari, the JEWWS front man, definitely knows a thing or two about writing a good tune. The A-side reminds me a bit of a sped up version of the KINKS’ "Till the End of the Day" (easily the KINKS’ finest moment). The B-side has two tracks, one that saunters like a bad mother fucker looking for trouble, and another that rocks in an almost TEENGENERATE fashion with it’s bouncing bass line and 100 mph tempo. So JEWWS, tell me, when are you playing the Twin Cities? (SS)

MOLOKO PLUS (GERMANY) MAY 2002 Höllisch geile Perle im riesigen Haufen durchschnittlicher EP´s..

CHOKE #7(AUSTRIA) JUNE 2002 HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! Buy tommorows Pebbles today !! We want more of the JEWWS! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! HIT! (chris reeky )

Super!

OX Magazine #46 (GERMANY) MARCH 2002 Aus Houston, Texas kommen die JEWWS, die mit ihrer 3-Song 7" " I Need Your Lovin" eine wunderbare direkt und brutal fuzzrockende, sleazy Punk -Single aufgenommen haben. Hymnisch, kickend und erdig direkt- hier stimmt einfach alles. Kaufen (8/10) (Joachim)

JENZ BUMPER PRIVATE DIARY LINERNOTES #1 (GERMANY) 2002 Haargenau so muß 2002 Gragen-Punk für mich klingen! Und der Text zu "I Need your Lovin" ist eine geile Anspielung auf I don`t need your lovin von der Chocolate Watch Band (spielen wir ja auch)
