New album by the teutonic
trashmen! Lead by Calgary punk veteran Al Charlton the canadian red barons
did it again. After numerous 45´s and LPs on numerous labels (ESTRUS,
SCREAMING APPLE, AUGOGO and Charlstons own ROTO-FLEX) and three albums
this is their latest effort. They spit out eleven garage rockers and proclaim
it loudly as "The Crime is Now". It´s a call to arms for
social responsibilty in an age of rampant individualism. While they gained
recognition with their teutonic
schtick and WWII iron cross souvenirs and lederhosen on stage throughout
the 90´s the now seem to deliver a political album and again point
on having edges most the of the bands lacking out there. That doesn´t
changed their songwriting skills and the remarkable edgy rocknroll voice
and a striking garage production. (Budget Ape Studios). Here at ALIEN
SNATCH! we have been fans since the start and we can proudly say that
the VON ZIPPERS have been one of the bands pushing us into garage punk
and don´t let us go again. "The Crime is now" is more
70´s rock less 60´s fuzz& trash - snotty, pissed off -go-ape
drunk garagepunk. Still
with the same effect and listener tizzy, total volume,.. all classics.
The LP is a limited edition in a full color inside-out gatefold cover
with a soon to be classic Pat Moriarity art. Yeah, since there was once
the idea to start a canadian only label we glad we skipped it but even
more it´s cool to have already four releases so far.
